Meet the Petition Filing Committee

I was born and raised in Union County and am a 1985 graduate of Fairbanks High School. I was employed with Scotts Miracle-Gro for 23 years and later spent six years with the Washington State Department of Agriculture. Other activities have included being a high school sports official for over two decades. As a prior seven year member of Marysville City Councilman I have long-standing ties to the community. This experience in local government and public service drove me to be on the Filing Committee for this proposed charter amendment.

My husband and I have lived in Marysville since 2004. Previously we lived in Hilliard and watched out-of-control growth degrade our quality of living. Recently, I have seen the same growth pattern threatening Marysville’s quality of living. By returning the required signature percentage back to 10% for a referendum, the residents of Marysville will maintain some control over local issues. I feel that is extremely important, which is why I chose to be on the Filing Committee for this proposed charter amendment.

 I was born and raised in Marysville, graduating from Marysville High School in 1985. My work history was with Honda of America where I recently retired after over 30 years there. The residents of Marysville have exercised the referendum process previously, using the signature percentage that had been in place for over 100 years. This signature percentage was changed in 2025 from 10% to 35% and my belief is that it should be restored to 10% via this proposed charter amendment. I am a proud member of the Filing Committee. 

  I graduated from Marysville High School in 1971 and have lived here most of my life.  This has included raising my daughter here in Marysville. I would like to remain in Marysville in my retirement. This charter amendment will enable continued citizen involvement on local issues, which is why I happily engaged to be a member of the Filing Committee.

I am a Registered Nurse with 50 years experience. My career has been spent in the United States Air Force as well as the private sector. I am practicing nursing with the Rural Health Clinic. It is important for local residents to have a voice on local issues. I was disappointed to see the signature requirement for a referendum increased from 10% to 35% in 2025. This is why I am a supporter of this proposed charter amendment and member of the Filing Committee.
